First Filipino Saint

For those who don't know this person his name is Saint Lorenzo Ruiz who was the first Filipino to become a saint. What made him different from other Saints was he holds the distinction of being the first person beatified outside the Vatican. Last Friday at my church of St Michael we did a prayer for him honoring him. He died as a martyr which to me is one of the bravest thing any man or woman can do. He was given an option which was live as long as you stop believe in God or die believing in him. He chose death to me, to me it shows a lot of courage being a Filipino it just brings on more to the word pride.

Poetry jam #1

FILIPINOS

Filipinos are hardworking and responsible
Friendly to others and all hospitable
Good moral values and respectful most of all
With long-patience and all lovable.

Filipinos help each other, whether rich or poor
For those who needs especially the neighbour
Filipinos are brave and pride they stand for
To protect and fight for country are worth-dying for.

Filipinos are always smiling
Though some nation keep on insulting
For being simple, low status of living
But heart and mind are rich human being.

I am proud to be Filipino, in blood and skin
The religion of christianity in God we believed in
The own mothertongue we use and for grand children
The culture and tradition from ancient till next generation.

Judith Kempis

Reading this poem, already in my mind brings pride to myself and for my culture. It talks about her own words of what a Filipino is to her. I may not know everything there is to be Filipino but I know what she said are true because I was taught the same as she said.

Looking Up

Listening to this song I feel some of his words related to my life. I love this song because listening to the radio you hear different races talking about them and how its good to be this or that; but listening to this I feel the pride of being Filipino. This song to me means that as a Filipino we can handle shit when times get rough. Were not easily to be hurt. We just "from the bottom looking up". This is one of many songs about Filipinos.
