Do The Harlem Shake

In class we watched a video about the Harlem Shake,

and no it’s not what you think.

It is not the video  on YouTube of people making a fool of them self and calling it the Harlem Shake.

It is actually a reaction video of people in Harlem watching the video of these people doing this so called “Harlem shake”.

It is  funny because people in Harlem were baffled and saying, “This is not the Harlem Shake” but just people "humping the air".

While watching the video and looking at the faces that they are making I can see that they feel little offended because;

Even though in some people it’s just a joke and that it’s all fun and games but the people in
Harlem took it serious.

Since Harlem was a place where many trends started like jazz and R&B they took this serious.

ALONE

Its a song that Claude Kelly sang  that came out around 2008.

This song kept me up late at night thinking about how the world is today. We look at the news and you see people killing each other and wars destroying homes.

It is sad to hear about this; when this song express how everyone in this world is similar than we think. We all may sound different,  talk in a different language, and even dress up differently but we all still feel the same in the inside.

"What good is a heart if there ain't love in it.
What good are your eyes if you ain't got vision.
What good is the world if we can't all fit in.
See all along, we ain't that different.
All tryna get by and raise our children.
Love and pain, yeah we share the same feelings."

This is my favorite line in his song because it shows how true it is about living in this world. It gave me chills because, what argument can you say the denies this statement, that can prove that what he says in the song is false.

People in this world still gets scared to fall asleep every night wondering if they will every wake up in the morning .

If only the world can find a compromise to just live in this world together without fighting and killing.

I know this can be random but  I'm a guy who is already 21 years old.

I'm  going to a point of my life that I will have a family of my own. All I want is for my future kids and their kids to live in a world that they don't have to worry about the violence in the world.

F.O.B

FOB what does that really mean?

well in urban dictionary it states,

FOB - is a degrading term for people not up to date on the culture which is an abbreviation for (Fresh Of the Boat.)
meaning you still carry your sense of fashion from your country which clashes with the current countries cultures.

But in society people give wrong intentions to that word. Just cause you came from a different country your originally a fob?

I was born in Philippines came here when i was two. But every two years I go back to the Island, does that mean I'm a Fob?

I speak English very well.
I speak my native Language very well

Does that mean I'm half fob?

I'm tired of hearing, oh she a fob or he a fob like they are from a different planet. The worse part is the people who calls Filipinos fobs are Filipinos themselves. Do you see something wrong with that?
It's like they don't appreciate there own culture but when it comes to like  Manny Pacquiáo, now the people who calls Filipinos fobs are like; I'm so proud to be Filipino!!
really? A person like  Manny Pacquiáo should be a fob in your eyes because that's what you call Filipinos who has a accent like him are called.

Don't be a hypocrite.

Instead of calling the Filipinos fobs just say Filipino, because its not right to generalize people who is the same ethnicity as you are.

In the dictionary it states what a real fob is which is
To cheat or deceive

so don't deceive your own race, be proud even if they act different from you, your background history and culture doesn't change.

I bet you cant guess my asian enthinicty

So you like sushi?
You like chinese food?
hey when is the lao festival?
Do you listen to kpop
Was your mom or dad white?

Do you notice something about this!

These were questions that was asked to me growing up. People trying to guess my ethnicity like its a game show asking me the dumbest questions.

When I say I'm full Filipino, its like a southwest airline commercial; there reaction to my answer is PRICELESS.

Well if I really think hard about my ethnicity I cant blame them if they don't think I'm full Filipino because if you really look at Filipinos they are really brown compared to me, I'm really light and bright haha.

funny part is they have the nerves to ask me; are you sure? or NO WAY!

Like I don't know my own race and they know more. LOL

But it humors me time to time because they really gave up like 5 minutes of their life trying to get to know me  even if their questions were really dumb. Instead of asking 20 questions, it would save more time if you just ask me one straight forward question.  But I give them an A for effort.

I guess maybe what they think is; it be awkward to ask a straight forward question like that because in their mind they do not want to give them that intention that you are a creeper or a stalker.

Asians and there cars!

When people think of Asians, what is one of there thoughts in there mind?

CARS!!

I hear it all the time. Oh your Asian must mean you have a nice car with this modification and that cosmetic work on it huh.

Even if your Asian who likes cars because its a hobby or a passion of yours they still pin the idea of liking cars because your Asian.

I love cars not because I'm Asian, its because my whole is into it. I grew up in a family that loves cars and loves to work on it. Yea we modify it for the looks and speed with the motivation of the Japanese culture. But being Asian has nothing to do with it.

I know many people who are not Asian and loves cars and works on their cars like how I work on mine.

So Please don't say oh he has a nice car just because he Asian. because it is starting to get annoying and honestly I'm tired trying to defend myself with the same argument of these stereotype to people who I'm guessing are just HATERS because their ride is not like mine.

where NOT this!!

Its more like this!
United like its an own NATION.

Oh he is a Nice Guy!

The words no man wants to hear.

Being "Nice Guy" isn't really the best description a guy wants to hear from a girl. especially if the girl who said is the one you like.

When guy's hear the word nice guy the whole thought of wanting to be with that person just goes down the drain.

If you don't believe me.... Picture this

Girl: ohhh I know Jason he is such a hottie!!!

vs

Girl: ohhh Jason yeah I know him he such a nice guy......

see the difference?

the "Nice Guy" is just portrayed as a person who isnt that important compared to a person who is described as a hottie.

I had experience with being the "Nice Guy" in one point of my life and honestly it totally sucked so bad.

Here is how the story went...

I was in high school at that time and I really liked this girl. She was everything I wanted, the brains, the style, and the looks. You can say she was the full package. To get her attention I do so many things for her such as walk her to class, make her laugh when she down, be the one to talk to her when she needs someone to talk to.

I wanted to step my game up and just tell her how i feel but like any other typical high school kid I was to shy and afraid so I had to get help from her Best friend.

So i asked her best friend to ask her what she thought of me and if she ever had a thought of like dating me someday.

Next day, she came up to me and said " so I asked her what she thought of you" and i said " what did she say?" nervously... She said" ohh he is a really nice guy but I cant see him more that just a friend".

Nice guy, its not just two ordinary words, they are words that leaves a guy just hoping.

First Filipino Saint

For those who don't know this person his name is Saint Lorenzo Ruiz who was the first Filipino to become a saint. What made him different from other Saints was he holds the distinction of being the first person beatified outside the Vatican. Last Friday at my church of St Michael we did a prayer for him honoring him. He died as a martyr which to me is one of the bravest thing any man or woman can do. He was given an option which was live as long as you stop believe in God or die believing in him. He chose death to me, to me it shows a lot of courage being a Filipino it just brings on more to the word pride.
